Spa & Plunge Pool Prices in London & the South East

The demand for private wellness spaces in London and the South East has grown significantly in recent years. A spa pool, hot tub or cold plunge pool is no longer a luxury associated only with five-star hotels — it is increasingly a feature of well-specified homes, alongside saunas, steam rooms and outdoor living spaces.

The range of products available is wide, and so is the range of prices. This guide covers all the main options — from entry-level acrylic hot tubs to fully bespoke concrete-tiled spa pools — with honest pricing based on what these installations actually cost in London and the South East.

The Swimming Pool Company specialises in the design and installation of bespoke concrete and tiled spa pools, swim spas and plunge pools. We also install quality acrylic hot tubs and can advise on the right solution for your space, your usage and your budget.

Indoor swimming pool price guide — London 2026

Acrylic hard-shell hot tubs — £5,000 to £25,000+

Acrylic hot tubs represent the majority of the hot tub market and offer the widest range of sizes, specifications and performance. They are manufactured with a fibreglass-reinforced acrylic shell, available in a wide range of shapes, and can be installed above-ground, partially sunk or fully in-ground.

Approximate price bands for acrylic hot tubs in London:

  • Entry-level (3–4 person): £5,000–£8,000 installed — basic hydrotherapy, standard jets, simple controls

  • Mid-range (4–6 person): £8,000–£15,000 installed — recognised brands such as Jacuzzi, Sundance and Caldera, more powerful jet systems, better insulation

  • Premium (6–8 person): £15,000–£25,000+ installed — high-efficiency models with advanced hydrotherapy, LED lighting, WiFi controls and superior energy performance

Installation costs for acrylic hot tubs in London include a dedicated 32A electrical supply (typically £500–£1,200), a prepared base (concrete pad or composite decking rated for the loaded weight), and any groundwork required if the hot tub is to be set into a deck or surround. Crane lifts for hard-to-access London gardens typically cost £600–£1,500.

Swim spas — £15,000 to £40,000+ installed

A swim spa combines a powerful current-generation swimming system with a dedicated hydrotherapy spa section, all within a single unit. They are typically 4–6 metres in length and are the solution of choice for clients who want the exercise benefits of a full-length pool but have a garden or indoor space that won't accommodate one.

Swim spas can be installed above-ground, partially sunk or fully in-ground. In-ground installation adds significantly to the cost due to excavation, waterproofing and surround construction — typically an additional £8,000–£18,000 in London.

  • Mid-range swim spa, above-ground installation: £15,000–£22,000

  • Premium swim spa, partially sunk with composite or timber surround: £22,000–£32,000

  • Premium swim spa, fully in-ground with tiled surround: £35,000–£50,000+

Bespoke concrete tiled spa pools — from £20,000 to £75,000+ installed

A bespoke concrete spa pool is a permanent, fully integrated wellness structure built to exactly the dimensions and specification you choose. Unlike acrylic hot tubs, a concrete spa can be tiled in mosaic, natural stone or large-format porcelain — matching your pool, your garden or your interior aesthetic precisely.

Concrete spas are the choice for high-specification projects where the visual quality of the installation matters, and where you want a structure that will last the lifetime of the property. They are significantly more expensive than acrylic equivalents but require no liner or shell replacement over their lifespan.

Typical prices for bespoke concrete tiled spa pools in London:

  • Standalone concrete spa (1.8m × 2.4m), mosaic tile, basic hydrotherapy jets: from £15,000

  • Larger spa (2.5m × 3.5m), mosaic tile, waterfall feature, LED lighting: from £22,000

  • Integrated pool and spa combination, shared filtration, overflow edge: from £35,000 (spa element)

  • Full wellness installation with pool, spa and plunge pool: from £55,000

Cold plunge pools — from £8,000

Cold water therapy has moved decisively from the margins to the mainstream. Cold plunge pools — small, chilled bodies of water typically maintained between 5°C and 15°C — are increasingly requested alongside saunas and steam rooms as part of a complete home wellness installation.

Options range from prefabricated stainless steel or fibreglass plunge vessels to fully bespoke concrete-tiled cold pools designed to integrate architecturally with a wider wellness space.

  • Prefabricated fibreglass or steel plunge pod, chiller unit, installation: from £8,000

  • Acrylic plunge pool with chiller and basic decking: from £10,000

  • Bespoke concrete tiled cold plunge (2m × 1.5m), chiller, mosaic tile: from £20,000

  • Integrated sauna and cold plunge suite, full bespoke build: from £35,000

The Swimming Pool Company designs and builds bespoke cold plunge pools as standalone installations or as part of complete wellness projects. We advise on chiller specification, temperature control and the practicalities of integrating cold water therapy into your home.

What affects your spa or hot tub price?

Installation complexity

An above-ground acrylic hot tub on a prepared patio costs a fraction of what it takes to sink the same unit into a bespoke timber deck or natural stone surround. Installation complexity — access, levels, electrical routing and surround materials — often adds as much to the total cost as the unit itself for higher-specification projects.

Jets and hydrotherapy specification

Not all jets are equal. Air-injection jets (common in entry-level models) create a bubbly effect but limited hydrotherapy benefit. Water-injection jets (standard in mid-range and above) deliver directional, targeted hydrotherapy. Premium models offer adjustable directional jets, rotary jets and dedicated neck or shoulder therapy positions. The more sophisticated the jet system, the higher the pump capacity required — and therefore the higher the running cost.

Insulation and energy efficiency

A well-insulated hot tub (full-foam insulation, quality cover) will cost approximately 60–70% less to run than a poorly insulated equivalent. Energy efficiency is a particularly important consideration for London gardens where spas are used year-round. Premium models often pay back the additional upfront cost in energy savings within three to five years.

Controls and automation

Basic timer controls are standard. WiFi-enabled smartphone control (preheat before you arrive home, monitor chemical balance remotely) is available on most mid-range and premium models. Fully integrated building management system integration is available for high-specification smart home projects.

Spa and hot tub running costs

Approximate annual running costs for common installations in London:

  • Entry-level acrylic hot tub (4 person): £600–£1,000 per year (electricity and chemicals)

  • Premium acrylic hot tub (6–8 person): £800–£1,500 per year

  • Swim spa: £1,200–£2,500 per year

  • Bespoke concrete spa pool: £900–£1,800 per year

  • Cold plunge with chiller: £400–£900 per year (chiller electricity and chemicals)

A quality insulated cover is the single most effective measure for reducing hot tub running costs. It prevents heat loss and evaporation, keeps the water clean, and in London's climate can reduce heating costs by up to 50%.
